NJWedding.com Contest Winners Featured In People
Magazine
NEW JERSEY - As a result of
entering the "Most Romantic
Wedding Proposal" contest on NJWedding.com, two New
Jersey couples, along with details of their engagement story,
were profiled in the current issue of People Magazine.
Sharon
Naylor, author of over
25 wedding planning books and featured Q&A specialist on
NJWedding.com, originated the idea to run a contest for the most
romantic or unique wedding proposals by New Jersey couples. "I
wanted to confirm the fact that romance is alive and well,"
said Naylor, a resident of Madison, New Jersey. "And the
entries we received through NJWedding.com proved that fact tremendously."
Among the couples that entered
were Michelle Mintz
and Billy Olk from Monmouth Junction, NJ and Angela
Birchbauer and James Gunja from Morristown, NJ. Mintz and
Olk's engagement story involved pre-arranging and surprising
each other with a proposal at a favorite restaurant and Gunja's
proposal to Birchbauer was in a pre-written letter with an encoded
message and presented to his girlfriend many years later. "Both
proposals were romantic and touching in their unique way and
were chosen as winners in the contest," added Naylor.
"I posted the winner's
names and stories on our web site after the contest ended last
year," stated Erik Kent, who has published NJWedding.com
with his wife, Beth, for the past eight years. "A couple
of weeks ago, I received a call from a reporter from People Magazine
who was researching romantic wedding proposals for a story. The
reporter chose to interview Mintz and Olk and Birchbauer and
Gunja after reading their entries," Kent added.
Both couples' stories can be
viewed in the February 14th issue of People Magazine, currently
available on newsstands. Sharon Naylor and the Kent's have included
these and all contest winners' engagement stories on NJWedding.com
at "http://www.njwedding.com/engagementstory"
and will be launching this year's contest for the "Most
Romantic Wedding Proposal" starting on Monday, February
14, 2005.
